"Great staff, great property, truly refreshing. The property is underrated, from the rooms with outside showers, amenities and the game roaming around the property and lastly the trail within the property offers a great opportunity to walk or run for relaxation and reflection, we were pleasantly surprised by all of this. The only bad thing we noticed was the odour in the room at times, it smelled like blocked drain or sewage."

Trennerys Hotel

Trennerys Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"This is a hotel we first went to 55 years ago. It remains rustic but is in very good order and gives you a wild coast experience without useless frills, preserving the very real touch with the South African beach experience outside the high rises and fancy hotels and eateries. It is simple but very real and honestly stress free, staff is high service and amenable without being servile and plastic. We recommend this to folks who want a magnificent beach, old world charm and style na d fully remote experience. Food is great, accommodations lovely and you can just get along with relaxation with zero stress, and no Joneses to keep up with. Kid you want to do the latter, Don’t come to the Transkei. No joneses, no fancy. You can have a uniquely African experience at Trennerys, if that is really what you want."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in MorganʼS Bay?
The best area to stay in Morgan's Bay is right along the beachfront, as this small village is built around its stunning coastline.

This area is the heart of Morgan's Bay, with most accommodation options, restaurants, and shops located within easy walking distance of the main beach and the iconic Morgan Bay Cliffs. The village itself is compact, so you're never far from the sound of the ocean.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find the beachfront ideal. You'll have direct access to the beach for strolls, and many guesthouses offer rooms with sea views, great for enjoying a sunrise over the Indian Ocean. The pace of life here is unhurried, making it great for unwinding.

Families will also appreciate staying close to the beach. The main beach offers gentle swimming conditions and plenty of space for children to play.
When is the best time to go to MorganʼS Bay?
The best time to go to Morgan's Bay is during the shoulder seasons of autumn (April to May) and spring (September to October), as these months offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During autumn, the weather is typically mild and sunny, with average temperatures around 20-25°C. The ocean is still warm enough for swimming and water activities, and the landscape is lush after the summer rains. This period is ideal for couples seeking a relaxed getaway, with opportunities for scenic walks along the cliffs, horse riding on the beach, and enjoying the local seafood without the peak season hustle.

Spring also brings agreeable weather, with temperatures ranging from 20-28°C, and the natural fynbos vegetation is in bloom, creating a colourful backdrop. This time of year is excellent for families, as the beaches are less crowded, making it easier to enjoy activities like exploring rock pools, building sandcastles, and gentle swims. The quieter atmosphere also means more availability and potentially better value for family-friendly accommodation and activities.

While the summer months (November to March) are popular, especially for families during school holidays, they can be quite busy and hotter. The winter (June to August) is cooler and can be rainy, which might limit outdoor activities, although it's a good time for whale watching.
